Each of Keystone Koating's plants are different.  Plant 1 consists of a warehouse, blast room, a batch coating line and an automated coating line with a four stage pre-treatment.

Size Capabilities at Plant #1

Blasting: The blast room consists of three machines: a 18" high X 48" wide conveyor, a 72" table and a 14 cubic foot tumble blaster.

Automatic Line: The automated coating line is capable of handling parts that are 3' wide X 6' high X 20' long.

Batch Line: The batch line is capable of 42" wide X 6' high X 17' long parts.

Steps conducted at Plant #1

  1. The product is received and stored in our warehouse.
  2. The parts are taken from the warehouse and blasted or, if blasting is not required, staged for
    coating.
  3. The parts are hung on the conveyor line and washed in our four stage chemical pretreatment.
    The stages are as follows:

    1st stage:  Alkaline cleaner
    2nd stage: Rinse
    3rd stage:  Iron phosphate
    4th stage:  Rinse

  4. After the pretreatment, the parts enter a dry-off oven to be heated and dried.
  5. After the dry-off, a coat of zinc-rich epoxy primer is applied for unmatched corrosion protection.
This stage is optional, but greatly extends the life of steel products.
  6. With the primer in place, the parts enter the spray booth and the topcoat color of your choice is
applied by a combination of automatic and manual touch-up spray guns.
  7. The powder then is cured at the powder manufactures specification.
  8. After cooling, it is then packaged to prevent scratching and placed in storage.

Not all of the steps may be suitable for your application. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
