About Us
The family of Paul B. Zimmerman Inc. companies
It was over sixty years ago, in 1947, that an industrious young man built a small 40' X 60' shop on Woodcorner Road west of Ephrata, naming it after himself - Paul B. Zimmerman. Because he engaged in activity from fixing machinery to fabricating farm equipment, he began to stock quantities of parts. Neighbors began stopping in to buy parts from him. The parts sales grew to become a small hardware store, and the metal work eventually became a full-scale metal shop.
His business slowly but steadily grew as he purchased two cranes in the 1960s. His six growing sons joined him as the modest business eventually diversified into an entire family of companies encompassing steel manufacturing and industrial laser cutting, cattle control and crop spraying equipment. In 1986 a powder coating plant was built; in 1992 the hardware store moved a mile down the road into its present 50,000 square foot location stocking between 40-50,000 items. In 2002 a large warehouse facility was built to house two industrial laser cutters, and warehousing and manufacturing of the crop spraying line of equipment.
Paul B. Zimmerman died in 2006, but Paul's sons have obviously inherited their father's abilities to expand the business. That year the company was restructured so that all companies would fall under the parent company of Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc. Some of Paul's third generation of grandchildren have also joined the brothers as they continue to implement new endeavors. Paul B. Zimmerman Inc. employed nearly 200 people in 2009, and continues to have an eye for growth and service to the community.
